April Fools was the day when I fooled my family with my brilliant cooking skills. Alright, I didn't fool them, I really did whip up a korean meal for my siz's sweet 16th. Not self-proclaiming I did a fantastic job, but I do think I deserve a pat on my back, at least no one spitted out anything or suffered from a stomachache. That alone should be regarded as an achievement for a first-timer who learnt the ropes from online recipes, right?

Seafood tofu stew which is my favorite dish personally.

Japchae: sweet potato glass noodles with mixed vegs. I fell in love with this dish when I had it at Bornga.

The crunchiness was there. The marination was also there. But it tasted a little on the bitter side (when it's not supposed to) because I accidentally poured too much honey which turned bitter in excess. This would definitely taste better if I had remembered to buy corn syrup instead of replacing it with honey.

All in all, the dinner was considered a success. I learnt what not to do, what to do.

To my beauty
Swensens ice-cream cake, just what she wants.

Yes, it's Lavigne's 'birthday' too. She joined our family on my siz's birthday, so it's naturally her birthday too.

Look at the hands holding Lavigne, in case she pounced onto the cake.

Peanut-butter cookie and strawberry.

We've watched each other grown over the years and I want nothing but the best for you. Be healthy and genuinely happy (AND confident), beloved beauty.
Doses of surprises still spring at my doorstep every now and then. They aren't the ones you'll label as glamorous but only superficial beings would go after that cause all you need is money to buy that sort of glamor. Whereas down to earth and simple surprises are those that bear the most significant meaning in my heart despite the 'low maintenance' factor. Killing two birds with one stone, why not?

Anyway, Redbull planned for a secret dinner date last Friday, just for me. How dear, I must say. Remembering my casual comment of wanting to try Pepperoni Pizzeria. Making the effort to call up the restaurant to make a reservation knowing the crowd.

Yes, small gestures but don't tell me these aren't the gestures that make it through cause I bet they are the only gestures that matter in the long run. Idc whether a guy is all lovey dovey, splurges all his time, effort & money on me, showers me with endless mushy convo all day all night, IN THE BEGINNING. I don't wish for a relationship which goes through the extravagant 'honeymoon' period only to find the other half disappearing together with the initial 'glamor' he once showered upon me.

The relationship & companionship I've wished for, I have it now, because of him. Sturdy, committed, full of nonsensical inner jokes, yet not lacking the passion and surprises.

"All we knead is love"
Doughs of love

Starter is the deep fried giant portobello mushroom with chicken and the red wine sauce!

I ONLY have thin-crust pizza.

Hybrid pizza. Salmon and ham+egg.
Pasta/pizza, I'll spam the cheese powder for sure.

Only one of their pastas is cream base which is the classic carbonara which I like but wanted to try something different so I chose venus clams in white wine sauce fusilli. The garlic taste is too strong for Redbull's liking but garlic lovers like me should like it as much as I did.
 A satisfied night. like always.
Thank you for You.
Yesterday night I had a fair share of yu sheng and decent seafood at the company's Lunar NY dinner.

As usual, I was too preoccupied with fooling around with the adorable kids than to give a thought about my image (that is if I even had one) stained by the feminine lacy dress I was wearing. I even crawled and hid under the banquet table with them while we were on an adventurous escape from the black monster they claimed they saw by the pool.

My Jacob. Yes, I'm claiming my stake on this too adorable and charming toddler.

Looks like someone is too hungry for a loud vocal.

"Oh, how can you go around hugging another girl in front of me?!"

THE LUCKIEST THING HAPPENED TO ME LAST NIGHT!
It's the first time in my own history that I've won a prize in a lucky draw, not to mention it's the 2nd prize. I'm definitely not this lucky, unlike my dad who always wins the top few prizes in his company's lucky draw. I've zero belief in my luck in lucky draws which justifies why was I completely out of the picture when the person was announcing the numbers. I was so engrossed in playing with the kids that my ticket number was called out several times. Until all of a sudden, the faint (actually, the person was yelling out the numbers but I wasn't paying a cent of attention) calling of '46' came to my ears. I swear it took a while for me to register the fact that I was the prize winner of
$688 CASH!!!
It may be a minute amount to some, but it's enough to make me do countless somersaults in the air (if I could). It's practically free money, better than striking Toto/4D cause I didn't fork out a single cent for it!

Enough of my excitement. I shall leave it to myself.

Redbull's annual family trip to Malacca is here again which simply means bucketful of food, food & food (which I didn't take a single picture of). Waking up at the wee hours to cross over the borders was a feat but staying awake wasn't especially when I only caught a wink for 4 hours the night before. Nevertheless, this innocent morning face of Joshua's woke our sleepy nerves temporarily.

First meal at 6AM
(I only had a few wanton. Never liked the wanton mee. Also, it was too early.)
For this year, I thought we were going to have a change of place for breakfast at 6AM but no nearby coffee shop was opened except for this, again. Bet the majority who came here was left with no other choice for the same reason as their wanton mee really doesn't taste nice, at all

The book for the trip.

Always a sleeping beauty.

All chirpy once he has had ample sleep.

Second meal at lunchtime before heading to the church.
Horfun
Fried wanton
Fat & juicy char siew
Steamed chicken
Stir-fried beansprouts

To Tan Kim Hock where we saw Mr Tan himself sitting on a stool watching money rolling in, hahaha.
Redbull: "This is the last piece in this shop."
Joshua: "Yes, this is how popular i am."

The hotel we stayed in, Ramada Plaza. Hopefully we'll stay in this hotel next year so I can use the gym & pool. Fanatic girl.

Enjoyed the comfort of the room's bed & sofa before exploring the hotel's surroundings. THEN third meal at 3PM was chicken rice balls not because there was anything to rave about Malacca's chicken rice balls (it used to taste really nice when I had it years ago though) but it was merely because of Redbull's greediness for food.

Mass was at 730PM & we reached at 630PM.
The two lovelies lighting up the candles that were extinguished by the strong wind which was a sign for the after downpour.

Fourth meal was at 930PM after the mass at a zi char stall where we had
salted egg crabs
milky crabs
otah
potato leaves
cereal prawns
pork ribs
fu rong dan

Fifth meal (YES. 5 meals in 1 day!) was right after the zi char at this ulu back alley where they sell fresh cockles & lala AND the yummiest tahu rojak & cuttlefish rojak I've ever had! I bet the chilli & rojak sauce are the shop's secret recipes.

Imagine eating at a place surrounded by smells that aren't exactly flattering due to the drains and scattering rats searching for foo, yet the place is always filled with people? Yes, there must be real yummy deals around to be attracting the crowd despite the filthy dining place. Even Taiwan's 美食大三通 recommended this place as a must visit.

Second day: We woke up at 830AM and had our breakfast at a nearby coffeeshop before heading to Jonker Walk for a quick shopping spree.

Before leaving to JB custom, we had zichar for lunch again but ain't complaining cause the dishes at this new found place are delicious.

Ah, 2 days worth of good food swimming in my tummy...
