Dad's 49th Birthday

Wednesday was my dad's birthday & just like all the previous years, we had a humble mini celebration at home.

I'm certain I'm not the only one who had/has been at loggerheads with our dad or mum or both. Some of us may have gotten over the past, whilst some may still be going through times when you treat them like your enemies. I'm glad to say I fall in the former. In the past, when I was young, my dad resorts to physical lecturing, by which I mean caning, beating. I used to detest him to the extent that I silently wished to myself he isn't my father. Every word he said sounded like the most irritating noise to me. Every gesture of his pricked my eyes. Yes, it was that bad.

As the candles on my birthday cake increases, I begin to forgive, understand & seen many sides of my father. Unlike my mummy, my dad has never been a person who knows how to express himself verbally & delivers his messages across eloquently. Maybe that was the reason why he used physical violence on my brother & me when we were young. What's the reason for him waking up at 6plus in the morning to report to work & reaching home at 730pm every day? Us. He doesn't say it, but I know he puts his children ahead of everything else.

Parading in the house with his new footwear.
Blessed with a complete & happy family.
