Weekend; Ah Loy Thai

Reservation at Ah Loy Thai (ALT) was made by Redbull on Saturday. Ever since our unpleasant dining experience at Jane Thai, I was searching for a nice Thai restaurant to make up for our loss. It was then I found out about ALT which has numerous good reviews.
Good things must be shared right? So yeah, ALT is located at #01-39/40 Shaw Tower. Initially, I got Shaw (the one which is at Orchard) and Shaw Towers mixed up. If I were a tour guide, I think my company would have to refund all the tourists their hard earned money. I even told Redbull that it was so convenient because we could go for a movie thereafter, how smart.
ALT was (almost) fully packed, except for the empty 1/2 table(s) behind us. I think the only flaw about ALT is that they don't have a proper menu with illustrations of the food. All it has and all the customers have to do is to tick against the food/drink that they wish to order. A guess on my part is that most people, like me, would prefer to look at a proper menu with pictures of all the mouth-watering looking food right?

Tick tick tick, where's our food?
ALT's efficiency of serving their food is commendable. Despite the crowd, all our food was served within half an hour. One of the dishes that many people were going gaga about is the Pandan Chicken, which was sold out! Damnit, I think we were just a few minutes too late because the tables beside us just started spooning their Pandan Chicken!

Highly recommended: Butter Calamari! The unique sauce reminds me of the Butter Pork Ribs at Commonwealth. We ordered 2 plates of this!

Mango Crispy Chicken which was normal. Tasty but nothing out of the norm.

Tom Yum Steamed Fish. The 2 things about this dish which captivate me are the fish-shaped plate and the glass noodles. This huge steamed fish with lots of glass noodles and mushrooms is very value added; it only costs $12!

Stir Fried Glass Noodles which not only is fragrant, I could taste the fragrance of all the spices/condiments/sauces (whatever it is) that were used in this simple dish. Oh ya, a generous number of prawns were given too! Best for prawn lovers.

Aside from the food, the best fact about ALT is that there isn't any service charge or GST charge.
We went to Shaw, in hope of catching a movie. Our choices were What do you Expect when you are Expecting and Men in Black. Being a weekend, all the time slots were either selling out fast or sold out. So, we skipped the movie and went window shopping at FEP instead and I'm so glad we did because......

WE FOUND A TREASURE SHOP! Ok, not exactly a shop that sells treasures/antiques. But to me, it's a shop filled with treasures. It's a shop which sells fragrance for both genders at ridiculously low prices! Notice the word ridiculous, I think it is a mere understatement. All the fragrances are selling at 50/more than 50% lesser than Sasa, airports (duty free)! Not to mention that the lady boss is the best person to turn to if you're finding a new perfume which suits your taste. I merely told her the previous fragrance that I was using & she instructed her helpers to bring all the different fragrances that I will love, which I obviously do because I purchased a bottle of it (below!). This is retailing at around $123 and I purchased it for only $52, inclusive of GST! SO CHEAP!
I spend the rest of my Saturday night indulging in the obsession of my new fragrance and my beloved Redbull.
Sunday.
We slept in till late and attended the mass at 530PM. After having our dinner at a Jurong West hawker centre, we sent Kelvin (Redbull's brother) back to his camp.

Though we didn't go to Cedele for my dessert, at least Redbull bought a packet of durian.
You're the next best thing after us.
